Focused ultrasonicators
Focused ultrasonicators are the most widely used ultrasonic processing systems in modern laboratories. By concentrating ultrasonic energy through a probe directly into the sample, they generate intense cavitation that enables efficient cell disruption, homogenization, emulsification, extraction and nanoparticle dispersion.
The Scientz focused ultrasonicator portfolio covers everything from cost-effective laboratory sonicators to advanced integrated and network-connected systems. Whether you need a standard digital ultrasonicator, a compact all-in-one solution, integrated cooling, non-contact sonication or centralized network control, Scientz offers a dedicated platform for your application.

What Is a Focused Ultrasonicator?
A focused ultrasonicator uses a titanium probe to transfer ultrasonic energy directly into a liquid sample. This concentrated ultrasonic energy creates cavitation bubbles that rapidly collapse, generating intense localized shear forces. The result is highly effective sample disruption, homogenization and extraction.
Focused ultrasonicators are considered the gold standard for laboratory sonication and are widely used in life sciences, biotechnology, pharmaceutical development, microbiology, nanotechnology and materials science.
Applications of Focused Ultrasonicators
- Cell disruption and cell lysis
- DNA and RNA extraction
- Protein extraction
- Microbial disruption
- Tissue homogenization
- Nanoparticle dispersion
- Graphene and carbon nanotube processing
- Emulsification
- Sample preparation
- Sonochemistry
Scientz Digital Ultrasonicators (JY92-IIN to JY99-IIDN)
The JY92-IIN, JY92-IIDN, JY98-IIIDN and JY99-IIDN represent the core Scientz ultrasonicator range and are the most widely used models in research laboratories.
These systems combine powerful ultrasonic processing with excellent value for money and offer a broad range of probes and processing volumes. Unlike integrated systems, the ultrasonic generator is positioned separately from the soundproof processing enclosure, allowing greater flexibility and lower acquisition costs.
For most laboratories looking for a traditional probe sonicator, the JY series represents the most cost-effective solution.
Integrated Ultrasonicators for Space-Constrained Laboratories
The Scientz-650J integrates the ultrasonic generator, probe system and sound enclosure into a single compact unit. This reduces bench space requirements and simplifies installation while maintaining the performance of a traditional focused ultrasonicator.
The 650J is particularly attractive for laboratories where available workspace is limited or where a cleaner integrated setup is preferred.
Integrated Refrigerated Ultrasonicator
Temperature-sensitive samples often require active cooling during sonication. The Scientz-650L combines focused ultrasonic processing with an integrated refrigeration system, eliminating the need for external cooling equipment.
This makes the 650L particularly suitable for proteins, enzymes, nucleic acids, biological samples and other temperature-sensitive applications where sample heating must be minimized.
Horn Cup Ultrasonicator for Non-Contact Sonication
The Scientz-2000J is designed for laboratories that require non-contact sonication. Instead of inserting a probe directly into the sample, ultrasonic energy is transferred through a horn cup system.
This approach offers several advantages, including reduced contamination risk, improved sample consistency and simplified processing of multiple small-volume samples.
The 2000J is particularly popular for DNA shearing, chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP), genomics workflows and other applications where reproducibility and contamination control are critical.
Smart Connected Ultrasonicators
The Scientz-650E, 950E and 1200E combine focused ultrasonic processing with advanced network connectivity. These systems are designed for laboratories that require centralized monitoring, remote access and enhanced process control.
Compared to traditional ultrasonicators, the E-series provides greater integration with modern laboratory workflows and is particularly attractive for shared facilities, GMP environments and laboratories implementing digitalization initiatives.
Why Choose a Scientz Focused Ultrasonicator?
Scientz offers one of the broadest focused ultrasonicator portfolios available. Laboratories can select the exact platform that matches their workflow rather than adapting their workflow to a single instrument design.
Whether the priority is budget, bench space, integrated cooling, non-contact processing or network connectivity, the Scientz range provides a dedicated solution while maintaining the proven ultrasonic processing technology that has been referenced in over 20,000 scientific publications worldwide.
