Batch vs Continuous Flow Dispersion
The F-series is ideal when materials are processed in individual batches and flexibility is important. The CFU-750W-M2 is designed for continuous production environments where material flows continuously through the ultrasonic reactor.
What Is an Ultrasonic Disperser?
An ultrasonic disperser uses high-intensity ultrasonic cavitation to break apart particle agglomerates and distribute materials uniformly throughout a liquid. The cavitation process generates intense local shear forces that can efficiently disperse nanoparticles, pigments, carbon nanotubes, graphene, silica, metal oxides and other difficult-to-process materials.
Unlike mechanical stirring, ultrasonic dispersion can achieve significantly smaller particle sizes and more stable suspensions while reducing processing time.
Ultrasonic Disperser vs Focused Ultrasonicator
Although both technologies use ultrasonic energy, their primary objectives are different.
A focused ultrasonicator is generally used for biological and laboratory sample preparation applications such as cell disruption, DNA extraction, protein extraction and homogenization. The ultrasonic energy is concentrated into a small sample volume through a probe.
An ultrasonic disperser is specifically optimized for material processing. The probe geometry and ultrasonic delivery system are designed to maximize particle deagglomeration, nanoparticle dispersion, emulsification and suspension stability.
