Mini vortex mixers

Our Mini vortex mixers category covers compact, single-tube vortex mixers for quick, small-volume mixing, currently led by the Biobase MX-Mini. Unlike a standard laboratory vortex mixer, a mini vortex mixer runs at one fixed speed, activates by pressing the tube against the platform rather than through a dial or hands-free mode, and draws far less power, trading adjustability and throughput for a compact, portable footprint.

About Our Mini Vortex Mixers

A mini vortex mixer is built for quick, occasional mixing of a single tube at a time, not for continuous or high-throughput lab work. Compared to a standard vortex mixer, a mini vortex mixer typically differs in four ways: it runs at one fixed speed rather than an adjustable range, it activates only by pressing the tube down onto the platform rather than offering a continuous hands-free mode, it draws a fraction of the power of a standard motor, and it mixes one small tube at a time rather than racks, plates, or larger vessels.

Biobase MX-Mini

The Biobase MX-Mini runs at a fixed 3000 rpm with an orbital motion and a 4.8 mm orbital diameter, driven by a 12V DC brushless motor rated at 10W output. It activates by touch, mixing a single tube pressed against the platform, and its compact 100 x 100 x 79 mm footprint and 0.5 kg weight let it sit on any bench, desktop, or wipeable surface. A foot pad design keeps the unit stable during operation and prevents it from shaking across the surface.

Who This Category Suits

Laboratories and technicians who need a quick, single-tube mix, such as re-suspending a small sample or briefly agitating a reagent, without setting up a full-size vortex mixer. It suits low-frequency, small-volume tasks rather than continuous or multi-tube processing.

FAQ - Mini vortex mixers

What is the difference between a mini vortex mixer and a standard vortex mixer?
A mini vortex mixer runs at one fixed speed instead of an adjustable range, activates only by pressing the tube against the platform rather than offering a continuous hands-free mode, draws much less power, and mixes a single tube at a time rather than racks, plates, or larger vessels.
Can I adjust the speed on the Biobase MX-Mini?
No. The MX-Mini runs at a fixed 3000 rpm. If you need adjustable speed control, see our general-purpose vortex mixers in the Laboratory vortex mixers category.
Is a mini vortex mixer suitable for continuous, all-day use?
No. Mini vortex mixers are built for quick, occasional mixing of small volumes, not continuous or high-throughput work. For continuous-duty mixing, see our Heavy-duty vortex mixers category.
How many tubes can a mini vortex mixer hold?
One. Mini vortex mixers mix a single tube at a time. If you need to process multiple tubes at once, see our Multi-tube vortex mixers category.
