Erlab Captair 633 Smart — Extra-Wide Reverso Ductless Fume Hood for Heavy-Duty Laboratory Applications
The Erlab Captair 633 Smart is the largest Reverso-design hood in Erlab’s ductless Smart portfolio, delivering an expansive 1,600 mm working width combined with deeper internal geometry than oblong models.
Its distinctive left-to-right Reverso sash incorporates a hinged panel that can be folded downward to reposition the opening toward the centre of the cabinet. This enhances ergonomics for standing operators and facilitates work with tall apparatus or powder-dispensing systems.
Unlike ducted fume hoods that exhaust conditioned air outdoors and drive enormous HVAC demand, the Captair 633 Smart filters contaminants through activated carbon for vapours and HEPA H14 or ULPA U17 filters for particulates before recirculating purified air back into the lab. This zero-emission approach significantly reduces energy consumption and eliminates construction constraints linked to external ducting.
Powder handling also benefits from immediate particulate capture rather than deposition inside exhaust ducts. Combined with highly stable airflow — independent of building pressure variations — the hood is ideally suited for weighing down to semi-micro levels (0.01 mg) and pharmaceutical API preparation.
According to the datasheet (pages 3–4), the Captair 633 Smart operates at 660 m³/h airflow, face velocities of 0.4–0.6 m/s, and power consumption of 160 W. It complies with AFNOR NF X 15-211:2009, DIN 12 927, BS 7989 and EN 1822 HEPA/ULPA standards.
Erlab’s Smart Technology continuously communicates protection status through intuitive light and sound pulses while monitoring airflow, temperature and humidity in real time. The integrated ESP programme ensures application risk assessment, certified installation and long-term safety monitoring.
Installation remains flexible: the hood can be mounted on an existing laboratory bench (Benchcap) or on a fixed or mobile Erlab stand (Mobicap), as shown in the dimensional diagrams on page 2.
