The OHAUS FC5718R, part of the Frontier 5000 Multi‑Pro Series, is a refrigerated multipurpose centrifuge designed for high-throughput and temperature-sensitive applications in research, clinical, industrial, and environmental laboratories. With a speed range of 200 to 18,000 rpm, reaching up to 23,542 × g, it is ideal for procedures such as protein purification, cell pelleting, nucleic acid preparation, and environmental sample processing.
Equipped with a CFC-free refrigeration system, the FC5718R maintains precise temperature control from –20 °C to +40 °C, with rapid precooling to 4 °C in under 10 minutes—perfect for preserving sample integrity. The rugged stainless-steel chamber, brushless motor, and reinforced design ensure durability, safety, and quiet operation (≤ 60 ± 2 dB(A)).
The centrifuge features a bright backlit LCD display, a rotary knob for intuitive control, and advanced programmability including 99 memory slots, 10 acceleration and 10 braking profiles, and run times from 10 seconds to 99 hours 59 minutes, or continuous. A Quick Spin function is also available for fast, timed separations.
The FC5718R is supplied without a rotor, giving users the flexibility to choose from a wide range of angle and swing-out rotors compatible with tube volumes from 0.2 mL up to 4 × 200 mL. Automatic rotor identification, imbalance detection, over-speed protection, and a motorized lid lock ensure safe operation during high-speed runs.
With its compact yet powerful design—731 × 359 × 407 mm, weighing 60 kg—the FC5718R delivers consistent, high-performance refrigerated centrifugation for demanding lab environments.
