The OHAUS Disruptor Genie is a mechanical cell disruption device built on the Vortex-Genie platform, combining vortex motion with a patented dual-motion mixing mechanism for glass bead cell disruption. It runs at a fixed 3000 rpm (2850 rpm on 50Hz models) with a 0 to 15 minute timer, and holds up to 12 microtubes of 1.5 or 2.0 mL, snap cap or screw cap. Laboratories use it for disrupting yeast cells, bacteria, and tissue samples that need violent high-speed agitation with glass beads. Disruptor Beads are sold separately in 0.1 mm and 0.5 mm sizes for different sample types.
