Erlab Captair 714 Smart — Extra-Wide Reverso Ductless Fume Hood for Maximum Filtration Loads
The Erlab Captair 714 Smart represents the flagship of Erlab’s ductless fume hood range, combining a full 1,800 mm internal width with a deep working chamber and the highest filtration capacity available in the Smart series.
Its distinctive Reverso sash runs from left to right and features a hinged panel that can be lowered to reposition the working aperture toward the centre of the cabinet. This design improves operator ergonomics, facilitates standing work and allows comfortable handling of tall vessels, powder-dispensing systems or balances.
Unlike ducted fume hoods that expel large volumes of conditioned air outside the building — driving major HVAC energy costs — the Captair 714 Smart captures contaminants at source and filters them through activated carbon for chemical vapours and HEPA H14 or ULPA U17 filters for particulates before safely recirculating purified air back into the laboratory.
With four modular filtration columns, the unit is suited for high solvent loads, toxic powders or combined applications, while keeping emissions at zero and eliminating the need for construction of extraction ducting.
Powder handling is particularly secure: particles are trapped immediately instead of accumulating in exhaust channels. At the same time, airflow remains exceptionally stable — independent of building pressure fluctuations — making the hood ideal for precision weighing down to semi-micro level (0.01 mg).
Certified to AFNOR NF X 15-211, DIN 12 927, BS 7989 and EN 1822, the Captair 714 Smart integrates Erlab’s Smart Technology, which communicates protection status through light and sound signals while continuously monitoring airflow, temperature and humidity.
Installation remains flexible: the hood can be positioned on an existing laboratory bench (Benchcap) or mounted on a fixed or mobile Erlab stand, supporting new builds, refurbishments and rental laboratories alike.
