The OHAUS FC5718, part of the Frontier 5000 Multi‑Pro Series, is an advanced, high-speed multipurpose centrifuge engineered for research, clinical, industrial, and environmental laboratories. With a speed range of 200 to 18,000 rpm, delivering up to 23,542 × g, it supports demanding applications such as cell pelleting, nucleic acid purification, protein separation, and environmental sample processing.
The FC5718 features a rugged stainless-steel chamber, a powerful brushless motor, and a backlit LCD interface with an intuitive rotary knob. It offers storage for 99 user-defined programs, 10 acceleration and 10 braking profiles, and a run time from 10 seconds to 99 hours and 59 minutes, or continuous operation for extended protocols.
This centrifuge is supplied without a rotor, giving users the flexibility to choose from a wide range of compatible rotors, including both angle and swing-out types. These support tubes ranging from micro-volumes to 4 × 200 mL, making the unit highly versatile for various workflows. Built-in safety features include automatic rotor identification, motorized lid lock, dual imbalance detection, and over-speed protection.
Despite its high-speed capabilities, the FC5718 maintains a low noise level of ≤60 dB(A), making it suitable for shared laboratory environments. It is compact for its performance class, with a footprint of 499 × 408 × 351 mm and a weight of 43 kg.
