Erlab Captair 392 Smart – Compact Reverso Ductless Fume Hood for Deep Workspaces & High Filtration Loads
The Erlab Captair 392 Smart introduces Erlab’s Reverso front-opening design, where the work aperture runs from left to right instead of horizontally. A hinged Reverso panel can be turned downward to reposition the opening at the center of the cabinet, improving ergonomics for standing operators or applications requiring higher working points.
Compared to oblong models, the Captair 392 Smart offers a larger interior depth and increased filtration capacity, making it suitable for more demanding protocols and powder-intensive workflows.
Two independent filtration columns draw contaminated air through activated carbon filters for vapours and HEPA H14 or ULPA U17 particulate filters for powders, before safely recirculating clean air into the laboratory. This eliminates the massive HVAC energy penalty of ducted fume hoods while preventing environmental emissions.
Because the hood is isolated from building exhaust systems, airflow remains extremely stable — enabling precision weighing down to 0.01 mg without balance drift.
According to the datasheet (page 3), airflow is 440 m³/h, face velocity 0.4–0.6 m/s and power consumption 105 W.
The Captair 392 Smart complies with AFNOR NF X 15-211:2009, DIN 12 927, BS 7989 and EN 1822 HEPA/ULPA standards. Erlab’s Smart Technology continuously communicates protection status via LED signals and audible alerts while monitoring airflow, temperature and humidity.
Installation is flexible: the hood can be mounted on a fixed laboratory bench (Benchcap) or on a mobile Erlab stand (Mobicap) as shown in the dimensional diagrams on page 2 from the datasheet.
