Erlab Captair 1634 Smart – High-Capacity Filtering Chemical Storage Cabinet with Smart Technology

The Erlab Captair 1634 Smart is a ductless filtering chemical storage cabinet engineered for laboratories that need very large-volume, energy-efficient chemical storage directly inside the workspace.

Instead of exhausting contaminated air outdoors, an integrated motor continuously draws air through activated carbon filters tailored to the stored chemicals and optional particulate stages before returning clean air to the room. This eliminates the need for compensating HVAC airflow, reduces energy losses and prevents environmental pollution.

Because no ductwork is required, the Captair 1634 Smart is especially suited for retrofit laboratories, rental facilities and sites where storage locations may change.

According to the datasheet (pages 2–3), the cabinet is available in two internal layouts:

• Double doors with shelves for up to 240 × 1 L bottles

• Pull-out doors with storage trays for up to 200 × 1 L bottles

Both versions include integrated spill-retention trays, absorbent mats and key locking, with shelves adjustable every 100 mm for flexible bottle sizing.

Airflow is rated at 220 m³/h with power consumption limited to 45 W. Filtration can be configured for vapours and powders using carbon media (AS, BE+, F or K) combined with HEPA H14 or ULPA U17 particulate filters. Performance is validated to AFNOR NF X 15-211:2009 and EN 1822, ensuring Class 1 containment when correctly configured.

The integrated Smart technology provides light and sound alerts, real-time safety monitoring, ambient temperature and humidity sensors and door-open alarms. Erlab’s ESP programme supports risk analysis, certified installation and long-term filtration performance verification, while Flex technology allows future reconfiguration as chemical use evolves.
